To enhance your nature experience, spend time with local outdoor enthusiasts. Professional guides share their passion for nature on guided exploration of trails and waterways.

Bandon is a sweet spot for nature exploration says nature guide Marty Giles, owner of Wavecrest Discoveries.

“In an hour, you can be hiking in a wilderness area. In an hour, you can be hiking in the Oregon dunes,” said Giles.

Easy outdoor access makes it possible for couples (or groups) to choose their own adventure– one may take a beach walk while the other paddles the Coquille River. Varied habitats and microclimates are just a short excursion from town, by car or on foot.

In Bandon, Giles leads beach and marsh walks or takes groups crabbing on the Coquille River waterfront. Many of her clients arrive with some knowledge of birding or wildlife topics and wrap their outing ready to continue exploring on their own. And, when groups finish their nature tours, they can take advantage of Old Town shops and restaurants.

“In Bandon, you go shopping, hit the bookstore and the chocolate shop. What more could you ask for?” she said.
