Before I became the BCC executive director in 1997, I owned a successful small business in Bandon. I’m a business advocate and a tourism director, managing advertising and promotion of Bandon and the Bandon Visitors Center staff of volunteers. My regional experience includes board membership with the Southern Oregon Visitors Association, active participation with Travel Oregon, and past chairwoman of the Oregon State Chamber of Commerce. I earned a BA in Communication from Maryville University, St. Louis, and am a graduate of the Western Association of Chamber Executives Academy. In 2013, I was honored with the Oregon State Chamber, William R. Hass, Chamber Executive of the Year award. I live in Bandon with my husband and daughter.

Terrie Loomis
Volunteer Assistant to the Director

I answered a Coffee Break ad requesting Chamber volunteers after retiring as a public school elementary teacher in 2003. (I taught for 15 years at Bandon’s Ocean Crest Elementary School.) I help with everything from hanging holiday lights to conducting research. My chamber work is fun, and I get to meet people from all over the world.

In addition to serving as a Bandon Chamber board member, I have also been elected to the Bandon City Council. I served my first city term from 2004 to 2008 and am presently serving a third term.

I am excited to be a member of the BCC! I feel that I can be a true asset due to the fact that I am a local business owner, along with being on the board of directors of three other organizations within the Bandon community. My wife, Lynn and I have co-owned Billy Smoothboars Restaurant since 2008. I’m a community theater enthusiast and co-host of the Coos radio program “Hooked on Oregon.” I hope to bring my personal insights, along with those from the other organizations I am currently a part of. Thank you for the appointment!

I graduated from Bandon high school in 1994 and returned in 2009 to start my family. I love Bandon and the Oregon Coast. My business, Cardas Photography, has thrived since my move back. I believe Bandon has a lot to offer both its residents and its visitors, and I believe “a rising tide raises all ships!” I am excited to be involved with the chamber and I am looking forward to promoting Bandon to the best of my abilities through my photography and community participation.

My wife Candace and I started visiting the Oregon Coast in the early ’90s and fell in love with Bandon. My professional experiences include education and business ownership. Candace and I acquired the Second Street Gallery in Bandon in 2012. For the previous nine years, I caddied for Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, in addition to creating wood sculptures shown in galleries through the region. All my professional positions have put me in touch with the local community. I look forward to working with the chamber to support and promote business in Bandon.

Professionally, I have a history in public safety, including Coos County Law Enforcement and volunteer service with Bandon Rural Fire Department. In 2008, I came up with an idea to transform a hobby into a small business, so Freedom Graphics was born. I have proudly served on numerous committees and currently co-chair the Cranberry Festival committee with Jami Gallagher. I whole-heartedly believe that Bandon is a GREAT place to live and raise our families and am honored to be able to serve to help make sure it stays that way for many years to come!
